The latest version of Readium for Chrome, launched just two days ago, has garnered the highest scores out of over two dozen reading systems in results published today on epubtest.org. The BISG EPUB 3 Support Grid has just been revamped, in collaboration between BISG and DAISY Consortium, from an Excel spreadsheet listing high-level features into a Web-based database with fine-grained results determined objectively via the EPUB 3 Testsuite developed by the IDPF. In intial results, Readium for Chrome scored 82% on required EPUB 3 features, slightly ahead of VitalSource Bookshelf at 79.5%, and 62% on optional features, well ahead of the next closes tested system, Kobo iOS App at 45.4%, for an overall composite score of 74% that was well above any other tested reading system. Readium for Chrome and its underlying ReadiumJS open source code is not yet fully complete and the development team will be pushing hard to earn an even higher score... ultimately aiming for 100% conformance level!
